The Challenge
Obel Studio was tasked with creating a cohesive brand identity for Greyson Hardin. The system needed to be able to be translated to different sectors as well (eg. Photography, Film, etc.). This visual identity was required to be consistent across all platforms (digital and print). In addition this, we were tasked to build this system to withstand the test of time, and remain scalable as the company grows.
The Solution
The logo suite consists of a primary logo— a camera lens icon with a stylized GH, symbolizing capturing the perfect photo every time, and a secondary logo for small spaces. This logo suite came packaged with a color system of Gold- bringing warmth, Maroon- bringing professionalism and a pop.
The Approach
Greyson Hardin is a freelancer based out of South Carolina, his target market being 18-50 years old. He planned to create a lot of photography that was bold, and vibrant, with a pop art style.
We then began research into the photography industry. This exploration then prompted some ideas for the logomark. We then built out mood boards capturing the essence of what would become the visual identity. We explored vibrant colors, drawing inspiration from Hardin's existing artwork— these would later influence the identity.
We took these sketches and ideas, and then began developing logo concepts inspired by a camera lens and his initials. Once the creative direction was chosen, we fully fleshed out this brand identity. We expanded into typography choices, color palettes and other assets.
